We partnered with the Alanya City Council to analyze 12,222 public reviews across a dozen languages, and it proves our models read human writing at scale. That same language work powers HumanizeMyAI. See what it can do for your own text, free.

Official partnership: Alanya Kent Konseyi and HumanizeMyAI

TL;DR: We've partnered with the Alanya City Council (Alanya Kent Konseyi) on a first-of-its-kind study that used AI to read 12,222 public reviews of 49 Alanya businesses (written over nine years in more than a dozen languages) and turn them into an evidence-based, destination-wide plan. This is the announcement; the full study, methods and figures are on our research page.

A civic partnership

We build language tools. HumanizeMyAI is trained on a published corpus of 2,590 real student essays, and the skill behind it (reading human writing carefully, across registers and languages) applies far beyond essays. So when the Alanya City Council wanted to understand what visitors actually say about the city, in the dozen languages its guests write in, it was a natural collaboration. The work was done as a civic contribution: open data, open methods, and a pipeline that re-runs every season at almost no cost.

What 12,000 visitors told us

For the first time, Alanya has an evidence-based picture of its visitors' experience, segmented by the language (and so broadly the nationality) of the guest. A few of the headlines:

  • Different guests value different things. Russian-speaking visitors centre on the sea and beach; German-speaking visitors weigh service and value; English-speaking visitors judge Alanya by its food.
  • Our own citizens are the toughest critics. Turkish-language (largely domestic) reviewers are consistently and significantly more critical than international guests, an early-warning signal that high overall ratings can hide.
  • Value-for-money is the issue to solve. Across every analysis, perceived value-for-money is the single strongest driver of negative reviews, and the weakest point at the beaches in particular.
  • Service is what visitors remember. The warmest, most loyalty-building reviews name individual staff members and teams.

A forecast for the summer

The study also includes a transparent, data-driven forecast: roughly 2.0–2.4 million visitors to Alanya in July–September 2026 (about 6.8–7.4 million foreign visitors to the wider Antalya region). That is at, or slightly below, the strong 2025 season. The Council can use it as a planning baseline for staffing, services and beach management.

The preprint is openly available on ResearchGate, and the analysis code with a fully de-identified dataset is on GitHub. Independent Turkish media coverage of the study is collected on our press page.
